Okay, so on to the quote...unfortunately I have to disturb the cat sleeping on the book, but that is unavoidable. "Do we wake up every morning amazed that we are loved by God? Do we allow our day to be shaped by God's desire to relate to us? Hmmmm.
Every morning? No. I can't say that I am amazed every morning. But sometimes, absolutely! I know me only to well, to know how very unlovable I can be. So yes, I find the fact that God loves me pretty amazing and glorious and wonderful and crazy in the best sort of way!
Jeremiah 31:3 Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself. God's love never stops. Romans 5:8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Totally undeserved and not based on anything we could do or be. Romans 8:38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. Nothing can come between us and the love of our heavenly Father. His love is truly amazing!
The second part of that quote, the second question there, that is another story. I'm not sure how to answer it completely. The first thing that comes to mind is spending time in prayer, study, time in the Lord's presence. Give God the opportunity to meet with us, unencumbered by the cares of the day. It's a great starting place. But throughout the day, am I shaping my day around the Lord? I try to in some ways, but I always struggle with remembering everything is for Him. I kind of just go through the day, doing what needs to be done. But if everything is directed and done with God in mind....that would be pretty awesome. If every day focuses on our relationship with the Lord, He defines our moments. Our interaction with Him and ultimately with those around us will flow from the definition He brings to our life.
I have been trying to start my days by dedicating them to the Lord...reminding Him (as if He needs it, LOL) that all the parts of my day are dedicated to Him, even the parts when I forget to think about Him. I'm not sure if this makes sense to you guys, but I'm trying to give the whole of my life to God, but I can't always keep that in the forefront of my thoughts, so I set it out there at the beginning of each day, letting the Lord know I want to glorify Him through everything I do.
I hope you enjoy these questions and getting to the place of growing that comes from prayerfully bringing them before God. I pray that you can feel the amazement of His love today!
Lord, I am amazed that You love me. A few weeks ago we talked about another one of those questions, loving someone that acts the way I act towards you. The answer was hard. And so yes, Your love is the most amazing thing ever. Sacrificial, unending, undeserved, always loving....Thank You! I am so unworthy! But You love me anyway. Take my day, I want all to belong to You. Lord, show me Yourself in my day. Let's do this together, for Your glory. In Jesus' Name, as always.
Take these questions to your prayer closet.
