That Word Again

It's that word again.  It comes, showing up in readings, in my mind....God keeps bringing it into my focus.  Yes, you've heard me talk about it here....YIELDED.  It was the topic in one of my daily devotionals, "Be Still and Know" by Julie Rayburn today.

Based on 2 Timothy 1:7, For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline, Julie contended that the more we YIELD to the Holy Spirit, the more evident this verse becomes in our life.  The more we YIELD to the Holy Spirit, the more we display the fruit of the Spirit written about in Galatians 5:22-23.  But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control.  There is no law against these things!

The more I yield, the more the power, the love and the character of Jesus will shine in my life.  And I want that desperately!  Oh that I could spend every minute aware of this yielding concept, and living it out!

How much anger, frustration, worry, stress....how much turmoil could be avoided if I just yielded to the Holy Spirit.  Easy, no.  Dying to self never is.  Self planning, self caretaking, self determination, self promotion, self rule and reason.  I want to let those go and follow God!   How much peace and joy can be gained by submitting wholly and whole heartedly to the Spirit?  I'm pretty sure more than we can think or imagine.

Thank You Lord for continuing to turn my heart to this concept.  Everything in me wants to make this my life's practice.  I pray that it would come as naturally as breathing, for all of us.  Your patience never ceases to amaze me.  Thank You so much.  Help us get there!

Go to the Lord in prayer and ask Him to teach you to yield.
