Even on my most hectic of days, I usually make time for reading at least one devotional. As I mentioned above, I've been feeling distant and "away" from the Lord. But through one of my devotionals the Father reassured me of His love...everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3 Long ago the Lord said to Israel: "I have loved you, My people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to Myself." God's love doesn't stop because I am busy or neglectful or feeling far from Him. His love is constant and unchanging. James 1:17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. His love never stops nor changes. It's permanent, eternal and always ours. His love doesn't depend on our performance, our feelings or our worthiness or our schedules. The proof is in the Cross. 1 John 4:9-10 God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love--not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Romans 5:8 But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to died for us while we were still sinners. God's love is sure because it's who He is. And He reassured me of this even when I ignored the need for time together over the last few weeks.
Next He addressed my busy-ness. I get into the car a few days ago, and funny I can't remember where I was rushing off to, what I was doing, I only remember turning on the radio and a teaching came on regarding being busy. The gentlemen teaching (don't know who it was) spoke on how if we are feeling overwhelmed with our schedules, we are the one who have to change it. Our priorities may be out of whack and that needs to be addressed. That was correction number one. LOL Correction number two came that still small voice and another day's devotional to add the confirmation. I laid down in bed a couple of nights ago, thinking about all the stuff that needed doing the next day...organizing and ordering my to do list in my mind. And then the still small voice shouted out Matthew 6:34 So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. Yup, God speaking here...stop fretting and go to sleep, we will deal with tomorrow tomorrow! I have to say, I listened! Yaay me. I let it go and went to sleep. LOL
God reiterated this message of not worrying in another devotional and the Scripture included with it as well. Matthew 6:31-32 So don't worry about these things, saying, 'What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear.' These things dominate the thoughts of the unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. We can really include any earthly cares or worries here....to do lists, schedules...whatever. God knows our needs. He's got this! The devotional said the Lord gives us this instruction not to burden us with another "do this or don't to that" command, but to set us free from worldly worry and care.
Reassured of His love. Reminded of the need for slowing down. Our Father is so good. What a beautiful God we serve!
Thank You Lord for being there in my life, active, speaking and loving. You never stop and we are all so blessed because of it! What joy!
Rest in God's love today. Set aside time to just be with Him, no matter what. The world can wait!
Matthew 18:12 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?
