Jesus is Better Than Coffee!

Yesterday I woke up dragging.  My head was fuzzy, my legs felt like lead, thinking and moving were monumental tasks.  I thought I had gotten a good nights sleep, but boy I must have been doing some heavy lifting in my dreams because I woke up more worn out then when I went to bed!  Of course my thoughts immediately ran to the coffee pot and my body followed along behind.  I thought to myself, how am I ever going to get through this day.  I planned on giving the kitchen a good cleaning before work, getting into the drawers and cabinets, behind the appliances.  But I could barely open my eyes and put one foot in front of the other!  LOL

Well, with coffee (oh Lord, thank You for this beautiful light brown liquid of pep!) in hand, I sat down to do my morning Bible study and just spend time with the Lord.  As I turned to the day's reading in "Jesus Always" the very first lines read, "I am your strength!  When you begin a day feeling weak and weary, it's all right!"   Hello??? Was someone observing my plight of morning exhaustion???   Was someone concerned and offering to help???  Why yes, yes they were!!  And it was Jesus.  He saw my tiredness long before this day began and knew the exact day I was going to need to hear His loving encouragement.  It's almost as if a greater intelligence orchestrated this.  LOL
The timeliness of this reading just blows me away.

The reading went on to say that Jesus Himself was my strength, and my weakness was a reminder of my need for Him.  He alone is my unlimited resource for all things.   When Paul spoke to God about weaknesses in his life, and his desire to be delivered from them the Lord told him, "Each time He said, My grace is all you need.  My power works best in weakness."  (2 Corinthians 12:9)

In Matthew 6:8 Jesus said ...for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask Him!  And it was true.  I didn't even think to pray about the exhaustion yesterday morning.  I'm pretty sure that would have required putting thoughts together in an somewhat intelligent, cognizant manner and that was well beyond my muddled mind's ability at the moment.  LOL  But God knew,  He knew my need and He had the answer and He indeed gave me strength for my day.  No only did I get a good portion of my kitchen done, I made it through work and the rest of the day just fine!

I love when God answers before we ask.  I love when He speaks directly to our situations.  Sometimes is glaring and unmistakable, like yesterday morning, other times it's more subtle and we have to be watching.  But He does speak and He is active in our lives.

Lord, first and foremost I want to say thank You.  For Your involvement, Your interest and Your care.  It's amazing that a Being like You would be interested and concerned and yes, even love a being like me.  That's crazy, crazy in the greatest way possible.  Lord, help us to see Your touch today, to see Your love that touches our lives.  So many things, inside and out blind us and crowd out Your hand in our lives.  Lord, help us to see clearly and trust completely.  Thank You.  In Jesus Name, amen.

Pray for open eyes and open hearts, pray this often today.

If you are looking for a great devotional, I highly recommend Sarah Young's Jesus Calling and Jesus Always.  As you've probably seen here, I've been wonderfully blessed through her words and I hope I have conveyed those blessings to you as well.
