Worship Him

Imagine the scene in Revelation 4.  And now think about this: Every moment of every day the angels cry holy.  Our God is being worshipped.  No try to imagine the Being that is worthy of this kind of adoration. Human language, human thought, all fail to get to the immensity of our Lord, our God, our King.  Human design on earth can't come close to comparing to His dwelling.  No man or woman can come close to His character.  We can't reach the level of love, holiness, righteousness, kindness, wisdom, knowledge, creativity, on and on and on...that makes up our God.

While we are told to come boldly before His throne of grace, we need to remember Who we are coming before.  He is our loving Father, our Redeeming Savior and the lover of our souls, but He is also this almighty, omniscient, omnipresent, eternal Being that we must bow in reverence before.   So often I treat Him in a way to casual way.  I repent of this.  I ask forgiveness of the only One who can grant it.  He is not a cosmic genie or Santa Clause.  He is God.  Our Creator.  The One to whom we must give account.  He holds all things in His hands.   We, like the angels, are His servants.  We live to glorify Him.  Yes, we are His adopted sons and daughters, chosen before the beginning of time to be His heirs and children.  But we need to remember that our God is worthy of all our respect, awe, and worship.  He is worthy of all praise.

I so often take all of this for granted.  I take the Lord for granted.  I act like He owes me!  Well, God is now calling me to account on this.  He has given me a glance into His throne room and a conviction as to how absolute He really is.  Like Isaiah says in his writing, "It's all over!  I am doomed for I am a sinful man.  I have filthy lips and I live among a people with filthy lips.  (Isaiah 6:5a)

Thankfully we can come into God's presence through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He has redeemed and purchased us, delivering us from sin and guilt.  He has clothed us in His own righteousness, so we now have access to our Father.  He did this!  But we can never forget the majesty of our God.  He is both Father and King.  Loving and sovereign.  He holds us as dearly loved children, but He also holds all the universe in His hands.  What a beautiful and wonderful and awesome God we serve.

Cry out with me, with the angels and citizens in Heaven, HOLY, HOLY, HOLY!   You alone God are worthy to receive all honor, worship, power, glory and praise!!

Revelation 4  After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”  2 Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. 3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. 4 Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. 5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.  6 Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in front and in back. 7 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. 8 The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!”  9 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: 11 “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power;  for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.”

Isaiah 6 1-7 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!”  4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.  5 So I said:  “Woe is me, for I am ]undone!  Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”  6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.”

One of the things I believe God is leading me to do, is to reread these verses, and others like them, often.  To remember and picture these scenes in my head when I go into my prayer and study time.  Maybe you'd like to incorporate that in your "God time" too.  😊
