Ask for wisdom--as we need guidance, direction and knowing how to apply God's way and will.
2 Peter 3:18 Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to Him, both now and forever! Amen.
Ephesians 4:14-15 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of the new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ , who is the head of His body, the church.
"I should no longer act like a child, but to grow up in all things into Him who is the Head--Christ."
Like all aspects of life from birth to death, it's a learning process and a practicing process.
Unsettled or Complaining Spirit
Ask God to give you His viewpoint of your situation, don't let it take control. His perfect peace washes away the restless ache as you trust Him to guide you.
From me.
Spiritual growth takes time. It takes submitting to God's will. It takes prayer and practice and trust. It can be hard and come with tears....but in the end the place we land is beautiful. Right now I am in a place of deep learning with God. My emotions may not always line up with my faith, but I am learning to go beyond the feelings to what I know, what I've seen of God. This is growth. We all grow at different paces and in different ways....our starting points are not the same. Let's prayer for one another and continue to go forward with the Holy Spirit as our teacher, guide and strength.
Lord, we all want to grow in You and for Your glory. Sometimes the process is long and hard and painful. Sometimes we have the 'ah ha!" moments...all of it comes from You and in our cooperation with You. Give us hearts to continually desire more of You. This past Sunday my Pastor continued his teaching on the Sermon on the Mount. Your words Jesus, "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you." reminds us to keep looking for this growth...actively, persistently and by seeking You Lord. This is a prayer You will answer to the fullest. Keep our hearts set on growing and moving closer to, and going deeper with You. Let us reflect Your glory more and more as we walk this path with You Lord. Thank You for this lesson on spiritual growth. Remind us to examine ourselves from time to time to take our "growth temperature." And let us not become discouraged at the pace of our progress as long as we keep walking forward, even after set backs. It's Your way, Your timing. Thank You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
Part of my prayer life has become praying the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) and Galatians 5:22-23. What Scriptures can you regularly incorporate into your prayer life that ask God to help you grow.
The Beatitudes
3 “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
4 God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
6 God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they will be satisfied.
7 God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
9 God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
10 God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
11 “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers. 12 Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.
Galatians 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!.
