Timely Reminders, Part Two

Another timely reminder!  On Tuesday I told you guys about the Lord's reminder for my (and your's too!) spiritual walk.  This second reminder is for our physical health.  While on that same jog Tuesday morning, I got a "word in due season" from the Lord via a Joyce Meyer podcast.  Joyce was saying how some years back after seeing how her body was aging, she felt the Lord impress upon her that if she didn't start making some lifestyle changes she was not going to be strong enough to finish the next part of her life doing all she could for the Lord.  Ugh.  That's not something any of us wants to hear!

But it got me to thinking...wow, I've really been neglecting my physical health and making excuses after excuses after excuses why I can't do better or do the things I need to do.  The last six months or so I've started to feel worse and worse, weaker and weaker.  Over the last 18 months I've gained 15lbs.  Exercise has become a once in a while thing, eating healthy is hit or miss, junk food has become a staple....Ugh Ugh Ugh!!!

So when I heard what Joyce was saying, I knew right then and there that the Lord was speaking to me as well....I will not have the strength or the energy to live for Him, completing the work He has prepared for me to do if I do not make some serious changes, NOW.  Not tomorrow, not next week, not the new year, but today.

None of us can be all the Lord wants us to be and do all He wants us to do and have the life He wants us to have if we don't take care of the physical body He has given.  Not all of us can run a marathon, but we all need to take care of ourselves and be the best us we can be through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.

Lord, forgive me for not taking care of this body that houses Your Spirit.  Forgive me for treating it so disrespectfully, not as the temple that it truly is.  Help me to get back on track here.  And I ask You to help others who read this that are struggling.  Let us all be as strong as we can to do the work You would have us to do, to be the blessings You desire us to be in whatever capacity You plan.

Take care of yourself.
