Grace, From Mom

Heading into Mom's journal today and her entry on grace.  God's beautiful, wonderful, saving, heart changing, life giving grace!

Grace-  God's favor, God's forgiveness

Salvation-  is the miracle of the moment

Growth- is the labor of a lifetime

We must have a heart after God, a spirit of humility for God, a desire to trust God, a passion to obey God, a servants heart to serve God, and an intimate love for the Lord God.  Your heart must be totally devoted to God.

Faith flourishes in the garden of gratitude.

In order to love someone you must be true to yourself.  You must know yourself and like yourself.

Attitude check:  think it through.  We can have Jesus in our minds, but not in our hearts.   We must make Him Lord of our life, in total control of our lives.  Set your mind and heart on Jesus!

He is a God of grace.  I pray the Holy Spirit to widen my vision of God's grace.  Having been saved by grace--this is God's abundant goodness, love and mercy toward His children.  (Toward me as a child of God.)   We are to walk in a grace filled relationship with God and respond in grace towards others.

Grace is God's divine love and kindness.

Zechariah 12:10  Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem.  They will look on Me whom they have pierced and mourn for Him as for an only son.  They will grieve bitterly for Him as for a firstborn son who has died.    Act merciful, compassionate toward.  Favor, graciousness, kindness, beauty, pleasantness, charm, attractiveness, loveliness, affectionate regard

2 Corinthians 12:9  Each time He said, "My grace is all you need.  My power works best in weakness."  So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.  Joy. to rejoice, grace causes rejoicing.  God extends to sinful man unmerited favor, undeserved blessing.  A free gift.

Hebrews 10:29  How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?   The Holy Spirit is called "the Spirit of grace."

Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace[a] with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.   Philippians 4:7  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. We have peace.

Romans 5:2   through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.  Encourages, we have access by faith.

Romans 6:14  Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.  Free, because we are under grace.

Jeremiah 9:2-24  This is what the Lord says:  "Don't let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the pwerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches.  But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone:  that they truly know Me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things.  I, the Lord have spoken."  The only thing to boast in is the Lord's gracious favor.  We know the Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:31  Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the Lord.”  Boast in the Lord.  I receive the grace of God - a new way to develop.

Romans 5:3-4  Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;  perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.   You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.  Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.   But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.   Develop into grace.  Our problems cause us to grow - from tribulations to perseverance.    Not the "Why me?"  but "Show me!"  How do we grow?  Stay with it, learn from it.

1 Peter 1:6-7  In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.  To character.

2 Corinthians 4:17  For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!  Afflictions but for a moment leads to far more for eternity.  .

Romans 5:9-11  Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!  For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!  Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.  Receive reconciliation, learn to be joyful.

From me:

Grace.  God's riches at Christ's expense.  Redemption.  Reconciliation.  Strength to persevere. Endurance to grow.  All poured out on us through grace by God's Holy Spirit. We are not saved on our own, nor are we asked to walk out our salvation on our own.  Each day, by God's grace.  So often after we receive God's grace for forgiveness we then wander off  from His grace and try to live the Christian life in our own power and wisdom...NOT  a good plan!  His grace is for every day, every situation, every breath we take.  Oh Lord let me stay in Your grace!!

Galatians 2:21-3:3   I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”  You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.  I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?  Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?

Lord, thank You for the grace that saves and keeps me.  I fall upon Your mercy, moment by moment. I am forgiven, I am strengthened and held by Your grace.  Keep this in the forefront of our minds today.

Camp on one or two of the Bible verses given.  Breathe in God's Word and let it deepen your understanding of His amazing grace and transform your life!
